Description
Biotin,
also known as vitamin H or coenzyme R, is a water-soluble B-vitamin (vitamin
B7).
It
is composed of a ureido (tetrahydroimidizalone) ring fused with a
tetrahydrothiophene ring. A valeric acid substituent is attached to one of the
carbon atoms of the tetrahydrothiophene ring. Biotin is a coenzyme for
carboxylase enzymes, involved in the synthesis of fatty acids, isoleucine, and
valine, and in gluconeogenesis.

2. Function &
Application
Use as a feed additive, mainly used in
poultry and sow feed. Use nutritional supplements. The product has
physiological functions such as preventing skin diseases and promoting lipid
metabolism. Eating a lot of raw protein can lead to a lack of biotin. It is
used as a coenzyme of carboxylase, which participates in many carboxylation
reactions and is an important coenzyme in the metabolism of sugar, protein and
fat. It is used as a food fortifier. It can be used in food for infants and
young children, with a dosage of 0.1 to 0.4 mg/kg, and 0.02 to 0.08 mg/kg in
drinking liquid. It can be used to label proteins, antigens, antibodies,
nucleic acids (DNA, RNA), etc.
